Welcome to the William Raines Campaign

Hello, my name is William Burnett Raines and I am that rare candidate that embodies all of the qualities to be an excellent and respected judge.  I am an accomplished attorney, having handled a wide variety of cases throughout the country.  I have prosecuted or defended cases ranging from 1st degree murder to serious traffic cases.  In my previous position as Special Counsel to Fraud Investigations, I dedicated myself to fighting insurance fraud nationally.  I am considered an expert in this area and have testified before the Illinois State Legislature on this issue. I have also been interviewed on Court TV and Hard Copy syndicated television programs regarding insurance fraud issues. I am a retired police officer and former Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney.

As a prosecutor, I prosecuted drug offenders. As a police officer, I worked as an investigator in the Crack House Abatement Unit, Beat Health Unit, Fugitive Warrant Unit and Background Investigation Unit. While assigned to the patrol division, I was an evidence technician and field-training officer.

I received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from California State University, a Masters Degree in Public Administration and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California

I am licensed to practice law in Illinois, California, Wisconsin, New York, Colorado, Texas, District of Columbia and Florida
